I captured the Sun’s fiery prominences at solar maximum
Our host star is reaching its maximum for the current solar cycle and in the last few months it has been very active.
On August 13, 2024 I imaged the Sun with a dedicated Hydrogen-Alpha Solar Telescope (Lunt 40mm B600) and a little mono guiding camera (the ZWO ASI120MM-S). The result did not disappoint me.
The details on the Sun’s surface have been inverted with a software named ImPPG, that has been literally written with post-processing of solar images in mind.
Look at those prominences!
In the second image (that you can see if you scroll the slider), for context I added the Earth to give an idea of the size of those prominences.
