A Cosmic Bubble from my backyard
A cosmic bubble under far-from-ideal conditions. With only 75 minutes of data through gaps in the clouds and under a bright Moon, the Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) still reveals its iconic shape.
The “bubble” is created by the stellar wind from a massive, hot, 8.7-magnitude young central star.
To image the Bubble Nebula I ran the following setup:
-
Explore Scientific ED80CF refractor
-
Juwei 17 harmonic drive mount
-
ZWO ASI533MC Pro cooled to -10 °C
-
Optolong L-eXtreme dual-band filter
-
Controlled through NINA on a Mele Quieter 4 mini PC
-
Images processed with PixInsight and GIMP.
